Democracy for America has joined the Victory Fund, Lilian's List and our friends leading Democracy for North Carolina in enthusiastically endorsing Julia Boseman. With the selection of Senator John Edwards to be John Kerry's running mate, Democratic turnout in North Carolina is going to be very, very high. With that turnout, and Julia's great campaign - she's going to win!

Here is some more information on Julia from the Victory Fund
Julia Boseman (D) is running for North Carolina State Senate in the southeastern ninth district. The ninth Senate district covers the same area she represented as the first openly LGBT official elected to the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners since November 2000. As a Commissioner, Boseman served on the Transportation Advisory Council, creating a viable management plan for the growth her community has experienced in recent years as well as currently serving on Wilmington Downtown, Inc, dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Wilmington. Boseman’s past experience includes serving as a Trustee for Girls, Inc. (formerly The Girls Club), a national not-for-profit organization that provides vital educational programs to millions of American girls, particularly those in high-risk underserved areas. Boseman currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the New Hanover Regional Medical Center, the regional public hospital, as well as the Board of Visitors for the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
North Carolina is a Legislative Horizon State, meaning no openly LGBT officials currently serve in its state legislature. Boseman feels that President Bush’s call for a Federal Marriage Amendment to the United States Constitution further complicates her race in the more conservative ninth district. While Democrats outnumber Republicans by six in the fifty-member State Senate, the ninth district has never voted consistently for either party. Boseman will need 25,873 votes to win this race; she received 29,855 votes in 2000. She hopes to attract moderate Republicans and Republican women to her already large base of supporters. Given her fundraising goal of $150,000, your support of Julia Boseman will help ensure equality and representation for all!
